The well was built by the people living in the slum area because the only water tap which they received was not sufficient for the growing population. They had no money to build a wall around the well. The mouth of the well had by then widened as the soil and mud at its mouth fell into the well.
Within two years, the well had become muddy and narrow, that no one could see the bottom of the well. It was completely filled with weeds. Since the well had been there for quite long, it is not much dangerous as everyone knows the correct location of the well. It seemed harmless.
