What hapeen if there is 78.8 of nitrogen in air

Nitrogen is unreactive . It doesn't react with anything. So nothing really happens.
If oxygen would have been more in content then when you just light a matchstick the whole place would burn. So it controls combustion. This is the main advantage of abundance of nitrogen in atmosphere.

1.Nitrogen acts as a diligent in the atmosphere. Pure oxygen would be too rich to breathe and make ignition and fires treacherous.
