Imagine what would happen if there were no decomposers. Wastes and the remains of dead organisms would pile up and the nutrients within the waste and dead organisms would not be released back into the ecosystem. Producers would not have enough nutrients. ... Essentially, many organisms could not exist.

Question
- what happen if the decompose are not present in an ecosystem ?
Answer
- Decomposers break down the dead remains of plants and animals and release the nutrients such as carbon, nitrogen etc.
- In the absence of decomposers in the environment, this breakdown will not occur and hence, the nutrients will not be released. Due to this, plants will not get sufficient nutrients.
