what happen if a piece of wood or iron nail is placed on the surface of water .why??​

· The nail is more dense than both the cork and the water. Due to Archimede's principle, which says that an object will float if it weighs more than the weight of water that it displaces. Iron is much denser than water, so it sinks. Cork is less dense than water, so it floats.

According to float and sink conditions if an object has more density than water it will sink and if it has less density it will float. So iron nail sinks as it had less density while cork floats as it had more density than water.
