Earth without its moon would be a very different world indeed. No eclipses. Smaller tides. But the biggest change would be in the length of Earth’s day.

perhaps the most important effect of the moon on earth is the way it stabilizes our rotation. When the earth rotates it wobbles slightly back and forth on its axis. It's like a top, which does not simply spin in a vertical position on a table or the floor. But without the Moonwe'd be wobbling much more.
