Well, you don’t seem to know what your question means. The history which is almost certain with all the dates is only in the last 300 years or so. Anything before that can not be trusted blindly and thus, going another 600–800 years back, we only know what all is found in accounts written in that particular era and what remnants excavated tell. Anywhere beyond that, the whole thing is vague, just like seeing the silhouette in a fog. Neither are the dates/years accurate, nor do we know much beyond the folklores. Also the literary work back then is rare to be found today. So this is how we know, or rather; predict the history. The vision of that point in history fades as we go back in the time.

Now, you asked what would happen if that history is wrong? Well, no one ever said that history you learn in school or somewhere else is correct in the first place. It is just assumptions drawn on the basis of what evidential materials we have. So we can safely assume what history we learn of last 1000 years is accurate upto 40–60%. So it is NOT correct. And also, the history is always written under the hands of the victors. So in many cases, maybe the incidents occurred were correct but the flaws are in the details; exaggerated or manipulated like in heroic epics(Homer’s Illiad, Mahabharata etc.). So if say a particular big event in history never happened or a person didn’t die at a particular point in time, history is wrong about that person or event or era. But that will cause no effect on our lives until that glitch in information is discovered.
