- We attain oxygen by breathing it from the air.
- The air sacs diffuse this oxygen into the nearby capillaries. From the capillaries, the oxygen is transported to all cells of the body.
- The capillaries also collect carbon dioxide from all the body parts and diffuse it into the lungs so that it can be exhaled out from the lungs into the atmosphere.
- Without the air sacs the exchange of gases would't take place and would ultimately cause death of the person.
