When we press cotton, the cotton gets compressed.
- Cotton is a natural substance which is extremely soft and fluffy.
- The extreme softness of the cotton is caused by the presence of cellulose and air gaps.
- Due to this extreme softness of the cotton, the cotton gets easily compressed by very small pressure application.
- That's why, when we press cotton in our hands, it gets compressed (or, the shape gets deformed).
