What happen to air spaces in the root if we over watered a potted plant?

If we over water a potted plant then the water do not get enough space to move out...so the air spaces from which the plants take nutrients will be closed by water...and in this way the plant would die of not getting air supply...so proper amount of water is essenti

  • If a potted plant is over watered, its roots will not get enough oxygen to breathe as water fills up the airspaces present between the soil particles. This will cause decaying of the root and ultimately the plant dies.
