Originally, the composition of the music was proposed to Dawid Bowie, whose popularity then far outweighed Waters, but Bowie agreed to record only the title song. Waters took care of her, known for years from his anti-war views. The work was not complicated, because music, in most of the film absent, was only supposed to strengthen the effect of some of the scenes. In addition to a few miniatures, Waters attempted to create two ballads: Towers of faith (which, however, did not appear in the film or the album) and Folded flags (accompanying the end credits). The whole created an over 20-minute suite On some versions, the suite is divided into separate songs.
The song Towers of faith has been omitted although it is mentioned on the list. It was released on the Flickering Flame compilation: The Solo Years Vol. 1.
The CD contains messages encoded in the Morse code. This idea was developed on Radio K.A.O.S ..
Paul Carrack and Clare Torry performed in the vocal parts.
The other four tracks (Cornwell, Genesis, Squeeze and HardCastle) appear in the film fragmentarily on the radio, which is constantly listened to by the main character.
