when sides are halved its area become 1/4th
bcoz.. area=side * side
if one of them is halved..
then area will be 1/2nd*1/2nd=1/4th..

When, sides are half of the original
Then,
Area = ( x / 2 )²
Area = x² / 4
Hence, area will be ( 1/4 ) times of the original area.
