Apical meristems are present at the tip of roots , shoots , branches and leaves . they form the growing parts of the roots and stems. if they cut , the growth in length of that part will cease to occur .

Xylem is a water conducting tissue in plants. It  transports water from the roots to the different  parts of the plant. If the xylem of the plant is  removed, upward movement of water will stop  leading to wilting of leaves and ultimately causes  the death of a plant. In the absence of water, the  plant will not be able to prepare food and also  perform other essential activities.
