armer temperatures would actually increase their metabolism and shorten their lifespan. For a tropical fish tank, maintaining a warm environmental temperature ranging between 75 and 80 °F (24 to 27 °C) enables the fish to thrive.

Glass thermometers inside aquariums should come with a suction cup. That way it will say on the side of the aquarium turned toward you so you can read it at a glance without having to pull it out of the water. An unsecured glass thermometer can also break. When buying any aquarium thermometer look at the temperature they are all reading. Select one that has a temperature like the others. And of course look for breaks, and be careful with it on your way home.

My preference is an adhesive type that you can affix to side, if practical, otherwise on the front near the side. Look for one that reads in C° and F°. This type lasts for years too.

Any thermometer that you can see at a glance can warn you of a heater malfunction
