When sodium is dropped into some ethanol, it give of hydrogen gas and leaves a colourless solution of sodiumethoxide, CH3CH2ONa

when ethanol burns, it reacts with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water and heat.

1 .) When 1 Ethanol is burnt in air it releases a lot of heat, 277.7 kJ per mole of ethanol.

2.) When a piece of sodium is dropped into Ethanol it reacts steadily to give off bubbles of hydrogen gas and leaves a colourless solution of sodiumethoxide, CH3CH2ONa.
