When Chlorine gas reacts with hot concentrated NaOH solution, disproportionate reaction occurs.
The main product formed during this reaction is Sodium Chlorate (V) i.e. NaClO3. Other products are Sodium Chloride and water. This is a disproportionate reaction as Chlorine changed its oxidation state from 0 to -1 in NaCl and +5 in NaClO3.
The balanced chemical equation is given below :->
6NaOH + Cl2 --> 5NaCl + NaClO3 + 3H2O
