what happen when monochromatic ray passed from denser to rarer medium

When monochromatic rays enter from denser to rarer medium, the light ray bends away from the normal since the speed of light varies from medium to medium. This happens so because the rarer medium has less refractive index and more wavelength. So the ray bends away.
