- When picric acid reacts with naphthalene then naphthalene picrate is formed.
- The title compound was synthesized by dissolving naphthalene (C10H8) and picric acid (PA) in benzene .
- They were mixed separately, in the ratio of 1:1 and the resulting solution was stirred well.
- After stirring a yellow precipitate of naphthalene picrate (NP) (C6H3N3O7·C10H8) crystalline substance was obtained.
- The purity of synthesized compound was improved by successive recrystallization process.
