Hey
__________

From newtons second law
_________________________

•more the weight, more the acceleration it has

•less the weight , less the acceleration it has

•but The body is dropped , and when there will be no air resitance , both the bodies will fall at the same time

•hence, pan and cap will fall at the same time

Hope helped
_____________

trisha10433: but we are talking about free fall
trisha10433: the body is dropped
piyus1810: then also explanation is not correct it is only air resistance which is resisting the cap to fall slower not the Newton's definition mass is not having any role in the explanation of the answer
piyus1810: in ur answer u said you are not considering air resistance then why should pan reach first
piyus1810: both are fall with accel =g and falling point is same so finishing time will also be same
trisha10433: hey , dude well i was confused and now see i have corrected
trisha10433: sorry for the mistake
piyus1810: it's normal my mind also always says heavier will reach first but reality is different
piyus1810: and thanks for correcting

if we are considering no air resistance
both will fall with acceleration = g

applicable on gravitational force

for other force (non conservative)
For constant force F
mass is inversely proportional to acceleration
under same force on two bodies
the heavier one will have lesser acceleration
