When nitric acid is added to sodium carbonate then a brisk effervescence occurs in which Carbondioxide is released.
Na2CO3 + HNO3 -----> NaNO3+CO2 + H2O
Na2CO3 + HNO3 -----> NaNO3+CO2 + H2O
