what happend when a plant cell is placed in hypertonic solution...?

A hypotonic solution is one, in which the cell contains more solute concentration (thus less water) than outside the cell (the hypotonic soln. Itself)

Now, since less amount of water is in the plant cell (in comparison), the water as we know, moves from higher to lower concentration (osmosis or more specifically endosmosis) through semi permeable membrane thus the plant cell swells up and also might burst...

This is due to endosmosis..

When a plant cell is placed in hypertonic sollution then the plant cell looses water because of the turgor pressure by plasmolysis....... pressure decreases to the point where the protoplasm of the cell peels away from the cell wall, leaving gaps between the cell wall and the membrane and making the plant cell shrink and crumple....
