What happened after Mrs. Packletide had fired the shot ? How did the villagers react ?

Immediately after Mrs. Packletide fired a shot the old tiger was dead. Actually what happened was, Mrs. Packletide instead of shooting the tiger shot the goat and the poor tiger died due to a heart attack.

This happened because Mrs. Packletide was not so good in shooting but she still wanted to compete with Loona Bimberton.
