The communist rule in Hungary came to an end in 1989. There was a vast change in matters of economy, with workers demanding state wages, self-management of collective farm units and citizen revolt was rampant before the fall of the Communist regime.
Also, there was a break-up of the monopoly industries. Round table talks and the first free elections were two of the important landmarks in the history of the country.
