Firstly border patrolling is not the job of Indian Army. Secondly on such refusals the soldier will be charged with “ Displying utter cowardice on the face of the enemy” , and will be court marshaled, removed from the service without pension and gratuity, and jailed in the civil jail.

His life in the jail would be hell as even the murder accused, thieves, and other high grade criminals also dislike such traitors.

After the jail term his ex serviceman status will be denied to him and his service book would be endorsed accordingly.

Overall his and his family life would get ruined.
