then ruling party can manipulate the elections and can be in power with majority. the consequences may be democratic autocracy, constitutional breakdown, constitutional institutions breakdown etc and it can end up in civil war .Lot of countries of Africa and middle east are examples of such civil wars started due to hijacking of constitutional institutions.
