Democracy was dismantled , by a millitary coup. And a millitary Dictatorship was formed and those who were against it and wanted to restore democracy were prisoned , tortured and some were even killed.

Pinochet reformed the chilean economy under the guidance of economics graduates trained at the University of Chicago by Milton Friedman.the pinochet regime also enacted huge constitutional changes to improve the stability of the Chilean Political system.
