On January 2 the wind dropped suddenly and the sky grew dark. There was a growing roar. A huge wave came at the back of the ship. The roar changed into a thunder .The ship moved up the wave . A terrible explosion shook the deck . A torrent of water came over the ship. Then captain tried to save the ship the storm jib was dropped. Heavy ropes were tied across the stern of the ship. Everything was bound securely with ropes.
