Due to the rigidity of the cell walls, plant cells do not burst rather gets swollen when placed in a very dilute external medium. As it is placed in a hypotonic solution, water enters the cell and even the cytoplasm in the cell forces the cell walls to rupture, but due to its rigidity, it does not burst out.
