Miss Sullivan gifted Helen a canary as a christmas present. One day the left the door open and she felt that something entered the room. Later she found that it was a cat and it had eaten the canary! :(

Little Tim was a canary that was gifted to Helen by her teacher Miss Sullivan on Christmas, Helen was already overjoyed by the interesting things she had done and the gifts that she had got on Christmas. But when Miss Sullivan presented her with a canary, her cup of happiness overflowed. Little Tim was so tame tha he would hop on Helen’s finger and eat candied cherries out of her hand. Miss Sullivan taught Helen how to tale care of her new pet. Every morning after breakfast, Helen prepared his bath and cleaned his cage.

One morning, Helen left the cage on the window-seat while she went to fetch water for his bath. When she returned she felt a bog cat brush past her as she opened the door At first she did not realise what had happened; but when she put her hand in the cage and Tim’s pretty wings did not meet her touch, nor did his small pointed claws take hold of her finger, she knew that the cat had eaten up the canary and she would never see her ‘sweet little singer’ again.
