Thank you for asking the question.

As we all know European countries possessed a large number of colonies outside Europe. But, with time they became weak, the colonies got independence.

A large number of colonies won freedom after World War II.

Great Britain possessed more colonies, including Pakistan (1947), India (1947), Jamaica (1962) and many other countries.

France was second Largest colonial power with colonies in South America, Africa and South East Asia. But, She awarded freedom to her colonies after becoming weak in aftermath of the war.

Apart from these two powers, many other European countries, such as Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, also colonized states but met the same fate.

I hope this answer will help you.

Explanation:

  • The majority of Europe's former colonial property became independent - the highest in the 1960s but in the late 1980s. The “United Kingdom” had the largest colonial empire.
  • The ‘former British’ colonies include: India, Kenya, Pakistan, Jamaica, Bahamas, Barbados, and many other colonies.
  • France was “the second largest empire”. It lost its ‘first acquisition’, Haiti with the rebellion in 1793.
  • In addition to this, there were several Western and North African countries, including some Middle Eastern and Asian countries, along with Senegal, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Morocco as well as Lebanon. And Vietnam, which was a part of East Indochina, with Laos.
  • Some former colonial property rejected western democracy in an effort to redefine itself. These include Cuba, which was previously a Spanish occupation, then for a time there was an American occupation during imperialism.
  • It also includes Vietnam, which resulted in a long battle with the United States as a result of the war on communist rule. Other nations became ‘vulnerable to corrupt rulers’.
