hi mate............

here's ur answer........!!

The marble and gilded monuments were build by the kings in the ancient times so that they could show their glory , pride and grandeur to the coming generations . But all these monuments were destroyed by time bcz of wars , natural calamities etc . Time is very powerful and no one can stand above it.

Whereas the sonnet written by Shakespeare would survive all calamities and would not be destroyed by time as it is passes by those people who read it to their coming generations.

hope it helps ⭐

HEY DEAR!!

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER...

____________________

Marble and gilded monuments were those historical structures built by Ruler/Emperor/King in ancient time { specifically, during medieval period } so as to show their power, pride, greatness and superiority to the people. But now, they are destroyed because of wars or changes that came with time.

Another reference may be to the sonnet written by William Shakespeare-NOT THE MARBLE NOR THE GILDED MONUMENTS.
In this sonnet, the bard talks about the futility of worldly glory and material attempts at immortalization. He refers to princes, great rulers, and the rich who have sought to immortalize themselves or what they love through monuments, statues, and memorials. He believes ‘not marble nor the gilded monuments’ can stand the ravages of time.
