if the area of cross section is increased and the resistance of the conductor is decreased because resistance is inversely proportional to the area of cross section of conductor

The resistance of a conductor is inversely proportional to its area of cross section. ... As the amount of current flowing at constant voltageincreases with increase in cross sectional area, resistance decreases.
