Nothing happened to the toys bought by Hamid's friends in the story. Hamid was only comparing his pair of tongs to Mahmood's policeman figurine, Noori's lawyer figurine and Mohsin's water carrier.
When Mohsin laughed at what Hamid had bought, Hamid dropped his tongs to the ground forcefully, to prove that his tongs were stronger than any of the toys that the other children had bought. According to Hamid a slight drop and a little bit of water was enough to break or discolour and ruin their new toys. So Hamid was only telling the others what could happen to their toys.
