THE CLOUDS GET CHARGED BECAUSE WHEN WATER MOLECULES EVAPORATE THEY MOVE UP AGAINST THE CURRENT COMING DOWN OR SINKING AIR THEY COMES UNDER EFFECT OF FRICTION DUE TO WHICH THEY GET CHARGED.

WHEN A CHARGED CLOUD { Say positive } PASSES OVER A TALL BUILDING OR TREES, IT INDUCES THE OPPOSITE CHARGE {negative} ON THE BUILDING SINCE IT ATTRACTS THE ELECTRONS OR THE PROTONS {electrons} TOWARDS THAT SIDE.

WHEN IT INDUCES AN OPPOSITE CURRENT THE CHARGED ELECTRONS ARE ATTRACTED TOWARDS THE BUILDING OR THE TREE. WHEN THEY FIND A PATH THROUGH THE AIR TO NEAREST SPOT { I.e a tall tree or building} ,THEY DISCHARGE OFF ALL THEIR ELECTRICITY QUICKLY. THUS, CAUSING A LIGHTNING TO FALL ON THAT TREE OR BUILDING.

SO WHEN A CHARGED CLOUD PASSES OVER A BUILDING OR TREE, THEY CAUSE LIGHTNING TO STRIKE AT THAT PLACE.

IN ORDER TO PREVENT LIGHTNING TO STRIKE OVER A BUILDING, IRON OR COPPER RODS ARE ATTACHED WHICH ARE FURTHER ATTACHED TO PLATE BURIED DEEP INSIDE THE EARTH SO THAT THE LIGHTNING COULD NOT DAMAGE THE BUILDING.

heya !!

its an interesting concept:

◆The small water drops in the clouds acquire a positive charge .

◆On the other hand, the larger water drops acquire a negative charge and, being heavier, come down in the lower part of the cloud.

◆so, the top of the cloud becomes positively charged whereas the bottom of the cloud becomes negatively charged.

◆hence,Storm clouds carry electric charges.

◆Now, if a storm cloud having negative charges at its bottom passes over a tall building, it induces positive charges on the roof of the building.

and,

◆when the electric charges on the bottom of the cloud become extremely large, then these tremendous electric charges present on the bottom of the charged cloud suddenly flow to the roof of the building and ultimately,
we see a flash of lightning coming towards the building.

◆thus ,it causes fire or lightning struck the building which causes damage.
