What happened when Hallock was sitting in the room

When John Hallock had sat down at his desk and waited for ideas for his story, a ghost named Helen had entered the room. This made John literally jump out of his chair. The ghost was first not seen, but she slowly began to materialize herself. She told John that she and the other ghosts of the Writers' Bureau had gone on a strike and would no longer help him in writing his stories. But, if he would be able to stop everyone from using the Ouja Board, then they would begin to help him once again.
