What happened when sodium hydrogen carbonate reacts with dilute H2SO4 ?​

  • You would except since it is an acid base reaction to get H2CO3, carbonic acid, but the formation of a gas is far more thermodynamically favourable, plus you can see bubbles, so that indicates CO2 has formed. Sodium carbonate reacts with sulphuric acid to give sodium sulphate, water and carbon dioxide
