what happened when we add O2 in cu? If H2 gas is passed over the formed compound the black coating on the surface turn white? why?​

Answer:

when we add O2 in Cu then it will form CuO. If H2 gas is formed then the black coating turn white because H2 is more reactive than Cu and Thatswhy it displaces Cu from CuO. Here is the chemical equations

2Cu+ O2 ----->2CuO

CuO+H2 ------>H2O+Cu
