what happened when we add O2 in cu? If H2 gas is passed over the formed compound the black coating on the surface turn white? why?​

In the reaction of oxidation of Cu (Copper)

2Cu (s) + O2(g) ===> 2CuO (s)

Over here, Copper oxidises to form Black coloured Copper oxide !

Now when it is reacted with, Hydrogen...!

CuO (s) + H2 (g) ==> H2O (l) + Cu (s)

Thus when we treat the obtained CuO with H2 (g) then we again obtain the Cu (s) [Copper]  that turns Shiny and white since it loses color a bit and turns a bit FAINT !
