What happened when you heat corn kernels
Answers
Corn kernels are the yellow fruits of the corn plant Zea maize.
Inside each corn kernel is starch, other biomolecules and water.
When you heat the corn kernel, it heats the water inside the corn kernel. Water turns to steam and expands when it is heated.
This expansion of steam creates pressure inside the corn kernel which pops the corn kernel.
Heating a corn Kernels will not result in poping but as a good snack.
Water in the corn kernels will ultimately evaporate from the fruit while heating them. They can be latter topped with spices or mashed and fried them to make them as a good evening time snack. That’s it.
Corns that pops out when they are heated are dried corns. When the total moisture of in a corn gone from it, the heat we are applying to them will get trapped in and build a pressure inside the corn. When heat overflows, the pressure inside the dried corn will enter the atmosphere with a small explosion, that is what we call poping.
