What happens at Dotheboys Hall that finally makes Nicholas leave the place?

Mr. Squeers and his wife horribly abuse all of the students, but especially Smike, a poor cripple. Smike has no parents that pay for him to be at the Hall, so the Squeers have him work all day and night to unfairly compensate. Smike attempts to run away from Dotheboys Hall, but is found. Later he begins to be beaten, and Nicholas bravely interferes, strikes the headmaster, and runs away from the school ( DOTHEBOYs HALL ) along with Smike.
