At 5 o’clock, when the tea is brought in, the little black cat appears all of a sudden from nowhere. Initially it acts disinterested and just hangs around making a purring sound, but it is actually waiting for some milk to be poured into its little white saucer for it to drink.
The poem ‘Milk for the Cat’ is by the English poet Harold Munro (1879 – 1932).
