When quick lime reacts with water calcium hydroxide is formed !!

When quick lime (Cao) is added to water it combines with it to form Calcium Hydroxide [Ca (OH)_{2} ].

This reaction is highly exothermic which releases a large amount of heat energy. 

⇒ Cao is also used in the manufacture of cement. 
⇒ Calcium oxide(CaO) is called lime or quick lime.
