If an animal cell or plant cell kept in a hypotonic solution, the cell extends upto where it cannot accommodate no more water. The cell becomes turgid.

If an animal or plant cell kept in a hypertonic solution, the cell shrinks from the cell wall and becomes flaccid.

If an animal or plant cell kept in an isotonic solution, it remains same (no change in size or shape).
