If ciliary muscles were not present, the focal length of the eye lens would be non varying and as a result the correct image will not be formed on the retina at every situation. This is similar to vision impairment

Ciliary muscles present in our eyes are responsible to adjust the lens of our eye. It helps the lens to adjusts its focal length. Without ciliary muscle our eye will not be able to adjust the focal lens and hence will cause defects in the eye.
