If the epiglottis is absent in the body then the regulation of food material to esophagus and air into the lungs will disturbed.Somtimes food will enters into windpipe and then causes choking or simply if the epiglottis is not present in body then the lungs would not work properly which can lead to death.

• As we know epiglottis is present behind the tongue and top of the larynx or voice box,that acts to seal the wind pipe while we eat foods.

• If epiglottis is absent in human body then the food which is taken through mouth will directly enter in the wind pipe which is very dangerous.It will create choke and due to lack of taking air,the person will die immediately.

• Moreover, if epiglottis is not present in a person then,he will not create certain kind of sounds or languages.

• There are some taste buds that are present in epiglottis.Without epiglottis,the person can't taste foods.
