What happens if mucus membrane is absent in the walls of

Answer:

The mucus  in the stomach,  protects the underlying tissue lining from the very acidic content of the stomach.

So, if the mucus membrane that secretes mucus in not present, it will be difficult to ingest food, the lungs will be clogged by dust and be under attack by whatever we breath in and the stomach lining will be digested by acids, leading to ulcers and worse, cancers.
