Answer:

Salivary amylase/ alpha amylase/ ptyalin is an hydrolytic enzyme that breakdown starch into maltose and dextrin. It is present in saliva. They have an optimum pH of 6.9 approximately. It is functional in basic medium only, so when it comes to stomach it becomes non functional

Answer:

If pytalin ( salivary amylase ) is non functional then the digestion of starch will be disturbed. Ptyalin is a enzyme that breaks down 'starch' which is a complex molecule to give simple sugar ( maltose & dextrin )
