What happens if there is no peristaltic movement in oesophagus

  • The food won't slidedown in the oesophagus
  • The digestion of food won't takes place in the stomach and small intestine

Having no peristaltic movement will hinder or even stop the passage of food into the stomach. The food would have to push against each other after Swallowing to reach stomach.
