If there are no peristaltic movements in the oesophagus then our food will depend on gravity and the problem with this will be that if we are upside down or in some other position then our food will not be able to reach our stomach.

Answer:

if there is no peristaltic movement in oesophagus , then there will be difficulty is transportation and digestion of food.

Explanation:

contraction and relaxation of oesophageal muscles bring in a wave like motion that propels the food into the stomach which is peristalsis . It helps in  transporting the bolus (food) from the mouth to the stomach through alimentary canal.and thus helps in digestion.
