What happens if we don't reduce friction in machines

The materials and surfaces involved in rubbing or friction, get worn out.  They have to be replaced.   They get overheated.  The life of the machine parts gets reduced.

Mechanical and electrical Energy is lost due to friction.  A lot of noises: creaking, shrill and irritating sounds are produced.
