Hi Ananya !

If we heat FeSO4:-
A decomposition reaction takes place i.e.
2FeSO4(s)→Fe2O3(s)+SO2(g)+SO3(s)
Ferrous sulphate crystals contain water molecules (FeSO4. 7H2O). when we heat it . its crystals lose water and anhydrous ferrous sulphate (FeSO4) is formed. So their color changes from light green to white.

It is a decomposition reaction
Refer the equation
2FeSO₄ --------> Fe₂O₃ + SO₂ + SO₃
Observations :
1) The products obtained are ferric oxide, sulfur oxide and sulfur trioxide
2)On heating the color changes from light green to brown (Fe₂O₃)
3) The gas emitted has odor of burning sulfur.
Hope This Helps You!
